Jonathan Edwards: One Day Closer
Now Jonathan Edwards is back with his first album in five years, the confident, assured One Day Closer. From the leadoff
doo-wop of "Everything Takes Time," to the gospel-inflected "This Island Earth" to the title track and the haunting
"Chesapeake", One Day Closer showcases one of this era's finest singers in an accomplished, sympathetic and uncluttered
musical setting.
This Minnesota singer/songwriter's claim to fame was the lightly upbeat ditty "Sunshine" (#4). Even though he was unable to
match the success of that song, Edwards released a string of albums to a small but devoted following. His more recent efforts
reflected a return to his bluegrass roots. One Day Closer features Garth Hudson on one track.
