Christine Ohlman with Rebel Montez: The Deep End
The Deep End is a 2009 album from veteran
rocker and long-time vocalist with the Saturday Night Live Band,
Christine Ohlmann, nicknamed "The Beehive Queen" for the Ronnie-Spector-style hairdo,
and her band Rebel Montez (Michael Colbath-bass, Cliff Goodwin-guitar, Larry Donahue-drums).
This is her first CD of original material in five years,
featuring special guests Levon Helm, Ian Hunter, Dion DiMucci, GE Smith, Marshall Crenshaw, Big Al Anderson, and others.
Early September found me in Woodstock, New York tracking with the great, great Levon Helm at his beautiful studio in the woods. Marshall Crenshaw joined me in a duet version of the old Marvin Gaye/Mary Wells duet "What's The Matter With You Baby" as Levon formed a rhythm section with Paul Ossola (bass), Andy York (guitars) and Jeff Kazee (keyboards).
